how we help

Who we are

PayX is an Advisory and Investment firm.  We are strategic partners with our portfolio and while not "consultants," we have decades of industry experience and can provide similar support and if needed can call on a vast network of resources.

PayX is led by Gregory (“Greg”) Cohen.  Greg is a recognized payment and financial technology industry leader who has built national and global organizations with high level exits.  Mr. Cohen is a past president of the Electronic Transactions Association and former member of MasterCard, Discover and NACHA advisory boards.  He has a passion for the evolution of commerce and was an early pioneer in the integrated payments and software arena.

Mr. Cohen has a deep understanding of the natural evolution from transaction to embedded experience within the commerce ecosystem.  He has a unique ability to scale businesses and solutions both directly and indirectly in complex environments.   Before PayX, Mr. Cohen was President of Paya, a GTCR (private equity) backed integrated software, payment and EFT processor servicing over 100,000 businesses in North America.  Mr. Cohen led the organization through a corporate carve out at onset, a transformational strategy realignment for growth, the implementation of a modern technology stack and three software and technology acquisitions.  Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Cohen was the President and then Chief Operating Officer of iPayment leading the operations of the top 20 processor prior to their eventual sale to PaySafe ($960M).  Previously, Mr. Cohen led numerous successful integrated payments and technology organizations.  He served as Chief Strategy & Revenue Officer for Cayan prior to their $1.05B sale to TSYS; and served as President for the U.S. Group and Emerging Payments at Moneris Solutions, a JV of the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal, prior to their sale to Vantiv/WorldPay ($450M).  Early in his career, he held senior positions with VeriFone, Global Payments, TSYS and BankServ and even founded techTouch Cash, a national independent sales organization.

Mr. Cohen is a frequent writer and lecturer on cutting edge payments trends and is an active investor and adviser for many of the payment industry’s fastest growing companies.  He earned an MBA in Strategic Marketing from The George Washington University and a BA in Math and Economics from Emory University.
